When we have a lot of work to do, we may find ourselves jumping from one task to another and trying to finish as much work as possible in a short time period. If you want to become more efficient, Auto Timesheet can help you. While running on your computer, the software will keep track of your activity and log your used applications. Thus, you can review your working habits, find a way to increase your performance and log your billable hours accurately.

Auto Timesheet is freeware and it does not take long to download its setup files and install its components. It works on all modern day Windows platforms and it does not use too many resources. You should also know that a Pro version, with additional features, has been announced.

Despite its advanced capabilities, Auto Timesheet is very easy to use. You can just run the application and let it work in the background, without making any configurations. The monitoring feature is turned on by default, so you can start working right away and Auto Timesheet will log your used applications.

When your work is complete, you may double click Auto Timesheet's system tray icon, to bring up its interface. The logged applications are displayed in a table of contents, along with your working, thinking and total times. Individual entries can be expanded, to reveal information about loaded documents, projects or visited web sites. A series of filtering options can be found above the table of contents and they will help you locate specific entries, based on project names, program locations, window titles, web sites and dates.

A projects sheet can be accessed on the same interface. It is a similar table of contents, but it provides additional information. Furthermore, while viewing the projects sheet, you can edit an entry's data, on a separate window. The software allows you to change a project's name, specify the used application's path, as well as the window's title. Additionally, you can type or paste a web site's address, select a comparison type (substring or exact match), a project type and enable a custom timeout. Auto Timesheet comes with a training mode as well. If you enable the training mode, the data editing window will appear automatically, when you launch a new application. This is a good way to "teach" Auto Timesheet what data it should assign to specific applications.

It is also possible to group individual applications into a single project. All you have to do is right click one or more entries, select the appropriate option and select a destination group on a separate window. For example, if your work involves copying and pasting information from a web site to a Notepad document, you can send the Notepad application to your web browser's project group. When you expand the web browser's entry, in the first table of contents, you will find the Notepad application, besides the visited web sites.

Pros

Auto Timesheet can be used without any kind of difficulties. It will monitor and log your used applications, visited web sites or loaded documents, as well as how much time you spend with each of them. You may group applications in single groups and assign various information to your projects.

Cons

There are no serious disadvantages to mention. Auto Timesheet gives you a complete picture on how you spend your working hours and it enables you to bill your working hours with accuracy.
